We walked from our very helpful hostel, Pachamama in Cabanaconde to the start of the Cañón del Colca. A man and a donkey is a pretty common sight around South America.
After about 25 minutes walk, we reached our starting point for Cañón del Colca, one of the worlds deepest canyons at 3191m, where we went walking for two days.
It was a beautiful day with some stunning views.
The Canyon has many traditional villages. This is Tapay, a town in the canyon, with a beautiful main square.
We stayed overnight in the oasis town Sangalle. It was so dry around but then you come to the green oasis with natural pools, they were freezing, but refreshing after a days walk.
We stayed in Paradiso Cabins, not really paradise, but it will do for a night. Plus for £5 you can’t expect too much.
On the way to Puno, we went to Cruz del Condor, where, you guessed it, there were lots of Condors, plus tourists. They were pretty impressive. This is one of the many photos…….
